New Discovery

This morning, I sat down to read James.

When I came to verse 19 of chapter 1 I said it without even having to look at the Bible
"be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger....".

Then, I continued reading and for the first time I realized that verse 20 and 21 carry the weight of this verse.

Yes, being quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger are important. WHY? Well, verse 20 and 21 tell us:

For the anger of man does not produce the righteousness that God requires. Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted Word, which is able to save your souls.

Are there any familiar passages in your life? Go to them and ask God to show you something new - you just might be surprised at what you've never seen before!

  1. What a good reminder to me that my anger doesn't produce anything good, worthwhile, or righteous. Thanks!

  2. So meekness is prerequisite to receiving the Word...that really highlights the importance of a woman having a "meek and quiet spirit"!
